Ceramics

Made to Fire Cleaner

From whiteware to technical ceramics, every product begins with a clean, stable melt. Anorthosite from Gudvangen brings balance, brightness and energy savings to every firing.

Ceramic tiles

Colour shifts and wasted energy hold ceramic production back. Anorthosite from Gudvangen provides a clean,low-iron source that fires evenly and keeps colours bright.

CERAMICS

Brighter Colours

Low iron and titanium keep glazes and bodies clean, giving whiter tones and sharper colour response.

CERAMICS

Stable Firing

Balanced chemistry ensures even sintering and fewer deformations
— every batch fires predictably.

CERAMICS

Lower Energy Use

Anorthosite melts faster and fires cleaner, reducing kiln time and total fuel demand.

CERAMICS

Fewer Additives

Very low iron keeps the mix light and consistent — ideal for visible concrete and architectural surfaces.

CERAMICS

Balanced Chemistry. Better Ceramics.

Anorthosite from Gudvangen replaces multiple materials in ceramic bodies — reducing energy, stabilising sintering and improving whiteness in one balanced raw source.

FEATURES

Natural Balance. Precise Firing.

From mineral balance to delivery route, every factor works together to make Gudvangen anorthosite a stronger, cleaner and more consistent foundation for concrete.

  • Gudvangen anorthosite contains 0.5 % Fe₂O₃ after magnetic separation and <0.3 % TiO₂.
These low levels help maintain bright white bodies and reduce colour shifts during firing.

  • With around 50 % SiO₂, 30 % Al₂O₃ and 14 % CaO, the mineral provides a natural flux balance that supports smooth sintering and consistent shrinkage.

  • Composed of more than 90 % plagioclase feldspar with fine, even grain size. This uniformity gives predictable firing behaviour and a consistent surface finish.

  • The balanced composition enables earlier melting, which can reduce kiln energy demand and support longer lining lifetime.

  • Produced in controlled fractions, from ultra-fine powders to coarse aggregates, ensuring consistent quality and predictable performance for every industrial process.

  • Crushed and screened on-site and shipped directly from Gudvangen’s fjord terminal, reducing handling, contamination risk and emissions.
